Historical Boston and its Many Sights

 

Nothing will take you back to old America as much as the city of Boston will.  Founded by Puritan colonists from England in 1630, Boston is now the capital city of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  Here you’ll find neighborhoods with a very distinct character, brownstone-lined streets, entertainment, and of course the famous Red Sox.

A historical city isn’t complete without museums.  Fortunately, Boston has many of them.  First is The Commonwealth Museum.  Teachers, history buffs and curious individuals alike should definitely make a stop here in order to find out more about the city of Boston and its people.  

The Boston Children’s Museum should be on the destination list of anyone travelling with kids.  Educational exhibits and staged events promise a fun-filled experience.  

The Boston Fire Museum has been on Congress Street since 1983.  It preserves and displays fire fighting memorabilia, gives an educational tour about fire safety, helps keep landmark building from destructive fires, and to support the fire service in general.  

Situated near the Boston waterfront, The Institute of Contemporary Art presents programs that touches on anyone’s creative juices, and presents exhibitions that spur ideas and arouse intellectual interests.  You’ll find familiar names such as Picasso, O’Keefe and Warhol, Cindy Sherman and Bill Viola.  

For those seeking a different kind of museum, The Museum of Science in Boston gives an interactive approach and proves to be fun for the whole family.  There’s a planetarium and many hands on exhibits that promise infinite fun for everyone.

Boston is known as a “walking city,” seeing that its size makes it quite accessible.  But its reputation can be traced by one of the city’s main attraction, The Freedom Trail Foundation.  The Foundation provides the ideal introduction to Colonial Revolutionary Boston.  A trail of red bricks or a painted line takes curious travelers to 16 historical sites.  The tour may only take two or three hours, but it covers two and a half centuries of America’s most historical past.

Almost anywhere in Boston is a good place to eat.  But nothing can be more satisfying that grabbing a meal over at Faneuil Market Place.   Here you will find over 40 pushcart eateries and 17 restaurants.  All the food that can be found here are considered world class, and you can also go shopping here if you want.

A lot of people go to college in Boston.  So the more college students mean there are more parties.  Boston has plenty of clubs for you to spend your nights at.  Kitty O’Shea’s is a comfortable and well decorated bar.  It has

 stained-glass windows and a fireplace which accentuate the space, and the bar serves plenty of tasty beverages.  But that’s just one out of dozens of bars and nightclubs you go to.  Just take a stroll around the city at and you’ll soon find out how easy it is to find a cool spot.

Last but definitely not least is Fenway Park, the home of the famous Boston Red Sox.  Get a hotdog, a cold beer, a few friends and take a seat at one of the best places to watch the all American past time.  If you’re lucky, the Yankees might even be in town.
