If you’re tired of snow and you don’t want to spend the holidays by the fireplace, it’s time you book your flight to the south! Here are a few places where you do not have to worry about shivering in the middle of a white winter.

Florida. They don’t call Florida the Sunshine State for nothing! Escape the gloomy snow covered Decembers of the north and head to Florida to feel the sun even on winter. Honeymoon Island State Park and Caladesi Island are among the top destinations in Florida during winter. Imagine yourself spending your winter holidays on the beach!

Hawaii. This heavenly vacation paradise has generally favorable weather all year long. This is not to say that you’ll get the best of Hawaii during winter. There are few rainfalls starting November but most of time, Hawaii remains sunny! Plus, November to April is the season for whale watching! Fly to Hawaii and spend your winter watching gentle giants swim around the sea!

Mexico. Different parts of Mexico have different weather conditions. Some parts can get really cold during the winter, but other parts are warm. The best of Mexico during winter is Yucatan, which cradles Chichen Itza. This magnificent structure from the late Mayan Civilization is listed in the World’s New 7 Wonders! But if you want somewhere really hot, make Acapulco your holiday destination. Feel like its summer on December at this popular Mexican city, where temperature hardly varies all year round.

Caribbean. Caribbean winters are generally warm and dry! Schedule your flight to Bahamas if you want a sunny winter! Hurricane season ends by November so you can have a calm and dry stay at the Bahamas come December.

If you’re not a skier, you probably will miss the heat of the sun when the snow sets in your locale. Good thing our beautiful planet is diverse! A single flight can take you out of your cold December and bring you to a sunny paradise!

Out of the three islands in the US Virgin Islands, St. Thomas is among the smallest.  But what it lacks in size, it makes up with its bustle.  St. Thomas Island is considered the hub of all the islands.

If you’re looking for an up close and personal engagement with the island’s unique underwater life, then the Coral World Marine Park & Undersea Observatory should be your first stop.  The place is packed with carefully-designed exhibits made to satisfy the explorer in you.  You can also find a three story observation tower which sits underwater, letting its visitors watch marine life in their natural habitat.  Nature trails, a garden aquarium, a children’s pool and an open pool, and feeding stations where you feed fishes and sharks can all be found within the park.

Of course, your  visit to St. Thomas wouldn’t be complete without going to the beach, if that’s not already your reason for going in the first place.  Magens Bay Beach was chosen by both National Geographic and Conde Nast as “one of the finest beaches in the world.”  Anyone who enjoys even just a quick dip should definitely visit this place.  The bay is shaped like a heart, and boasts having turquoise-blue waters, white sanded beaches and plenty of activities for you and your family, this includes picnic table rentals, kayak rentals, snorkeling, and, naturally, swimming.

St. Thomas is also known as the best shopping spot in the Caribbean.  Almost every major cruise line makes sure to stop at Charlotte Amalie where shopping is regarded as the main attraction.  The place offers a wide variety of shops, from electronics to clothing and jewelry.  And the good news is that most of them are duty-free, so expect insane bargains that are 40-60 percent less than the going price in the US mainland.  There’s also a little bit of history that can be found.  Old seventeenth century warehouses that used to store spices, rum, and other goods are still used, only this time they store modern goods.

The Sights and Sounds of Spain

Spain is one of Europe’s most distinct countries.  Its culture and influence seeps well into history.  From North America, South America, even in Asia, Spanish influence is still alive and kicking.  Now you can travel to the place where it all started, and see for yourself what makes Spain one of the most beautiful countries in the world.

Costa del Sol (which translates to “Sun Coast” or “Coast of the Sun”) is one of Spain’s most ideal places to visit.  The city is overflowing with exotic atmosphere and sights not seen anywhere else.  It is comprised of coastal towns, resorts, and romantic sceneries all bordering the exquisite Mediterranean coastline.

La Casa de Angel is a wonderful restaurant-gallery run and owned by the Spanish comedian Angel Caro.  The menu consists of home cooked Spanish meals with hints of an Arabic heritage.  While dining, you will also be enthralled at Casa Angel’s extraordinary collection of paintings numbering over 100 works (some dating back to the 16th century).  And they’re not just some run of the mill paintings, these pieces are done by

masters such as Picasso, Miro, and Dali.

Situated in the Costa del Sol region is Málaga. The inner city of Málaga is just behind the harbour. The quarters of El Perchel, La Trinidad and Lagunillas surround this centre.  It is clearly an exciting tourist center.

Of course, there is Barcelona.  The city is the beating heart of Spanish culture.  Here you can visit plenty of historical sites such as Sagrada Familia, which has been under construction since 1882 due to its impressive and intricate details.  There is also the Pobre Espanol where you can see firsthand how walking around a typical Spanish village feels.  You can also avail of some authentic Spanish memorabilia from its many craft workshops.

There are literally hundreds of more things to do and see while Spain.  While this article could go on and show you, there’s nothing like discovering new things for yourself.

Taste the Fresh Air at Savannah, Georgia

Located in the state of Georgia, Savannah is the largest city in the Chatham County.  The city attracts millions of visitors who enjoy the city’s architecture and historic buildings.  Another interesting fact about Savannah is that it was established in 1733 and was the first colonial and state capital of Georgia, which most likely explains why it is so rich in history.

Savannah has many notable citizens and places.  In fact, there were so many things that the city was known for its downtown area was eventually dubbed a historical landmark.  How many cities can claim that kind of prestige?   The city was the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low, the woman who founded the Girl Scouts of the United States of America.  It is also home to the Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences, one of the South’s first public museums, the First African Baptist Church, the oldest African American Baptist congregations in the United States,  Temple Mickve Israel, which is the third-oldest synagogue in America, and the Central of Georgia Railway roundhouse complex, the oldest standing antebellum rail facility in America.

The massive 700 Kitchen Cooking School should be a place to visit for anyone interested in the culinary arts, or for those who simply want to see 700 kitchens in one place.  You can take cooking lessons (some lasting for only three hours) on just about any kind of dish you want to learn.  Where else can you fill your stomach while learning at the same time? A Trolley tour is also available, three of them actually.  Each unique tour places you in a trolley, which are delightful to ride, and takes almost everywhere that’s worth going to in Savannah.  The price is also relatively cheap.  For ten dollars, you can see the sights, take pictures, and learn more about the city for three whole hours.

Just a measly 2.5 from the Savannah main district, Forsyth Park is the ideal place to go strolling and relaxing.  The park stretches to 30 acres of trees, grasslands, and walkways.  Take the family out on a picnic and take photographs with the stunning Forsyth Park fountain as your backdrop.
